MOVEMENT / EXPRESSION / DISCOVERY

BEYOND THE EVERYDAY

WORK. RESPONSIBILITIES.
REPEAT. WHAT ELSE?

You can love your career, be good at what you do, and still want something that brings out a different side of you.

You get up, go to work, handle your responsibilities, find a little time to unwind, and start again the next morning.

There's nothing wrong with having a routine. But when so much of your day is spent doing what's expected of you, when do you get to explore something unexpected?

We make time to train our bodies, build strength, and improve our physical fitness. But there are other abilities worth exploring, too: thinking creatively, trusting our instincts, trying unfamiliar things, and responding when there isn't a clear answer.

Exercise, Pilates, and yoga can be wonderful ways to take care of yourself. Sometimes, though, you're looking for something different: an experience that engages your imagination, introduces new possibilities, and gives you room to discover what else you can do.

THE IDEA IS SIMPLE

YOU DON'T HAVE TO BE AN ARTIST
TO HAVE A CREATIVE SIDE.

01 / INTEGRATIVE MOVEMENT PRACTICE

YOU ARE MORE
THAN WHAT YOU
DO EVERY DAY.

ASTC participants exploring creative movement and expression

Creative exploration through movement, improvisation, and self-expression.

Integrative Movement Practice (IMP) is a component of the ASTC Dance Method, adapted to make creative movement accessible to people with different backgrounds and levels of artistic experience.

You don't need to be a dancer, actor, or performer to participate. And if you already have an artistic practice, IMP can offer another way to explore your creative choices.

Sessions are personalized around your interests and goals. Through movement, music, improvisation, and guided exercises, you can experiment with spontaneity, expression, interaction, and unfamiliar situations without needing to perform or get everything right.

THE STORY BEHIND IMP

β€œBUT I'M
NOT AN ARTIST.”

That's something Amanda heard from people interested in her work.

They were curious about movement and creativity, but didn't see themselves as dancers, actors, or performers.

Integrative Movement Practice grew from that conversation.

Drawing on the multidisciplinary foundation of the ASTC Dance Method, Amanda developed an approach that invites people to explore movement, improvisation, and expression without requiring artistic training or technical performance skills.

The starting point isn't what you already know how to do. It's what you're curious to discover.

YOU DON'T NEED TO CALL YOURSELF AN ARTIST
TO EXPLORE YOUR CREATIVITY.

BEYOND PHYSICAL FITNESS

YOU TRAIN YOUR BODY.
WHAT ABOUT YOUR ABILITY
TO TRY SOMETHING NEW?

Being physically strong and feeling comfortable with the unfamiliar aren't the same thing.

You might be able to run a marathon, manage a demanding career, or handle a packed schedule. But what happens when you're asked to do something unfamiliar, without instructions, a clear outcome, or a right answer?

We spend a lot of time developing the skills we're already good at. What about giving ourselves room to practice being beginners, making unexpected choices, and experimenting without needing to get everything right?

IMP uses movement, music, and creative exercises to invite those experiences in an accessible, supportive environment. It's an opportunity to explore how you respond when something feels new, uncertain, or outside your usual routine.

NOT ABOUT PUSHING HARDER.
ABOUT EXPLORING DIFFERENTLY.

WHO IS IMP FOR?

DIFFERENT BACKGROUNDS.
DIFFERENT GOALS.
ONE APPROACH.

You don't need to work in the arts to explore creativity. IMP can be adapted to different interests, experiences, and professional backgrounds.

01 / WORKING PROFESSIONALS

YOUR WORK IS STRUCTURED.
YOUR CREATIVITY DOESN'T HAVE TO BE.

Software engineers, analysts, educators, business professionals, and people working demanding nine-to-five jobs.

Explore spontaneity, expression, and creative decision-making outside the expectations of your daily work.

02 / PERFORMING ARTISTS

YOU KNOW YOUR CRAFT.
WHAT ELSE CAN YOU EXPLORE?

Actors, dancers, singers, and performers who want to experiment beyond familiar techniques and approaches.

Explore presence, improvisation, physical expression, interpretation, and unexpected artistic choices.

03 / CREATIVE PROFESSIONALS

YOU HAVE IDEAS.
TRY A DIFFERENT WAY IN.

Writers, designers, filmmakers, choreographers, and multidisciplinary creatives.

Use movement and experimentation to explore ideas from a different perspective and challenge familiar creative habits.

04 / CURIOUS BEGINNERS

NO EXPERIENCE?
THAT'S A STARTING POINT.

People who have never taken a dance class, performed, or thought of themselves as particularly creative.

Discover movement, imagination, and self-expression at your own pace, without needing technical skills or previous artistic experience.

These aren't fixed categories. You might be a software engineer who dances, an actor with an office job, or someone exploring creativity for the first time. IMP starts with the individual, not a label.

WHAT BRINGS PEOPLE TO IMP?

YOU MIGHT
RECOGNIZE YOURSELF.

01

YOU HAVE A DEMANDING WORK ROUTINE.

Your days are filled with deadlines, meetings, and responsibilities. You want something meaningful outside work that isn't another task to complete.

02

YOU DON'T THINK OF YOURSELF AS CREATIVE.

You've never considered yourself an artist, but you're curious about discovering an expressive side you've rarely explored.

03

YOU'RE USED TO BEING GOOD AT WHAT YOU DO.

You're confident in familiar situations. Trying something where you're a beginner or can't plan every step feels different. You want room to experiment.

04

YOU'RE CREATIVE, BUT YOU FEEL STUCK.

You have ideas and ambitions, but keep returning to familiar approaches. You want to rediscover curiosity and the freedom to try something new.

05

YOU WANT TO EXPRESS YOURSELF MORE FREELY.

You'd like to explore speaking up, making choices, feeling more comfortable being seen, or connecting with others in a more genuine way.

06

YOU'RE READY TO EXPLORE SOMETHING NEW.

Nothing needs to be wrong. You might simply want to challenge your routine, discover new interests, and make room for personal growth.

INSIDE A PRIVATE IMP SESSION

NOT A DANCE CLASS.
NOT A PERFORMANCE.

Sessions are shaped around your interests and what you'd like to explore. Amanda may use guided movement, music, improvisation, creative exercises, and interaction to introduce unfamiliar situations and invite new responses.

You might respond to music without following a set pattern, communicate an idea without words, or make a creative choice without knowing exactly how it will turn out.

These experiences create opportunities to notice your habits, try different approaches, and explore how you respond when there isn't one correct answer. Challenges are adapted to your interests, comfort, and readiness.

You don't need dance training, choreography, or artistic experience. There's no performance to prepare for and no perfect movement to achieve.

ONE COMPONENT / DIFFERENT APPLICATIONS

THE PRACTICE
GOES BEYOND PRIVATE SESSIONS.

IMP is a component of the ASTC Dance Method, not a separate discipline limited to one type of participant. Its creative principles can also inform other ASTC experiences.

01 / PRIVATE IMP

PERSONAL EXPLORATION

Individual sessions centered on movement, curiosity, expression, and experimentation.

02 / DANCE COACHING

BEYOND THE STEPS

Creative exercises can complement technical training, helping dancers explore musicality, interpretation, and personal choices.

03 / ARTIST WORKSHOPS

BEYOND EXECUTION

Improvisation and creative prompts can support performers exploring intention, expression, and new artistic possibilities.

IMP is an educational and experiential movement practice. It is not psychotherapy or a clinical mental-health treatment.

02 / PRIVATE HUSTLE & DANCE COACHING IN NYC

KNOW THE STEPS.
FEEL THE MUSIC.
FIND YOUR RHYTHM.

Dance is more than remembering what comes next.

Whether you're learning Hustle for the first time or have been dancing socially for years, private coaching helps you develop the skills that make movement feel natural, connected, and personal.

Maybe you know the patterns but struggle to lead with confidence. Maybe you're following the steps without quite feeling your partner. Or maybe you're ready to stop repeating combinations and start developing your own style.

Sessions are tailored to your experience, interests, and goals, with attention to timing, counterbalance, lead-and-follow communication, partner connection, musicality, and personal expression.

Alongside technical instruction, Amanda can draw on the creative principles of the ASTC Dance Method, including IMP, to help you experiment with how you respond to music, movement, and your partner.

The goal is to understand how movement works, respond to the music and your partner, and make the dance your own.

Alternative Synergy The Company dance training

THE FOUNDATION OF THE WORK

THE ASTC
DANCE METHOD.

Technique gives you tools. Creativity gives you choices.

Developed through Amanda's work as a dancer, choreographer, and educator, the ASTC Dance Method brings together ballet, contemporary movement, street dance, musicality, improvisation, and storytelling.

The emphasis is on understanding movement, not simply copying it: how it works, what it communicates, and how to make it your own.

Integrative Movement Practice is a component of this method. It grew from Amanda's desire to make creative exploration accessible to people who don't necessarily identify as artists or performers.

Together, these principles inform Amanda's approach to private dance coaching, creative movement sessions, and workshops for participants with different backgrounds and experience levels.
